22 July
Ad Dali’, Yemen – In a significant step towards improving public health, YFCA conducted a comprehensive training session for six Community Hygiene Volunteers (CHVs) in Ad Dali’ Governorate. This initiative is part of the broader project aimed at Integrated and Multisectoral Health and WASH Rapid Response to Cholera Outbreak in Alazariq District, funded by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH).

The training, held in Alazariq District, saw the participation of four female and two male volunteers. These CHVs were meticulously trained on the hygiene promotion approach, equipping them with the necessary skills to conduct effective hygiene sessions for households and communities. The focus was on imparting key messages about personal and environmental hygiene, which are crucial for preventing deadly diseases and maintaining good health.

Objectives of the Training:
•    Capacity Building: Enhancing the skills and capacities of volunteers to effectively raise awareness about hygiene practices.
•    Knowledge Enhancement: Providing volunteers with modern approaches and techniques to improve their session delivery.
•    Disease Prevention: Encouraging volunteers to actively contribute to the elimination of diseases transmitted through poor hygiene practices.
•    Environmental Cleanliness: Promoting the creation and maintenance of a clean environment.

Community Volunteers play a pivotal role in sensitizing populations about lifesaving sanitation and hygiene practices. By empowering these volunteers, YFCA aims to foster a healthier community, free from the burden of contagious illnesses.

This training session underscores the importance of hygiene as a fundamental aspect of health, akin to the necessity of food and water. Proper hygiene practices can save lives and protect communities from the spread of infectious diseases, making initiatives like this vital for public health.
