Tuban District, Lahj Governorate YFCA completed the construction of a new water point at the Alanad IDP camp. The initiative aims to meet the urgent needs of displaced families, with a particular focus on older persons and individuals with disabilities, who are often disproportionately affected in humanitarian crises. This project is part of the broader initiative titled Emergency Response for Sandstorm-Displaced IDPs in Lahj, funded by HelpAge through the Global Emergency Fund (GEF).
Access to clean water is vital, particularly in Yemen, where the humanitarian situation remains dire. The newly established water point not only provides clean water to affected households but also promotes essential hygiene practices within the community. This intervention is expected to enhance overall health outcomes and significantly reduce the risk of waterborne diseases, which pose a serious threat in densely populated settings.
As the situation in Yemen continues to evolve, the necessity for international cooperation in addressing such critical issues becomes increasingly evident. Ensuring access to safe water is not only a local imperative but a global obligation that requires a unified effort from the international community.
