YFCA Launches Vital Water Disinfection Campaigns to Combat Cholera in Ad Dali’ Gov.
Sunday, 15 September, 2024

Al Azariq District, Ad Dali’ Governorate,
In collaboration with the General Authority for Rural Water and Sanitation Project (GARWASP) and local health offices, YFCA launched a series of disinfection and chlorination campaigns. Over the course of these efforts, 48 campaigns were conducted, alongside 115 water quality tests, focusing on Free Residual Chlorine (FRC) levels. These activities were carried out by three dedicated volunteers and the YFCA team at various levels, including Disease Treatment Centers (DTC), households, and community locations where cholera cases were reported.
This initiative is part of a broader project titled “Integrated and Multisectoral Health and WASH Rapid Response to Cholera Outbreak,” funded by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH). The project aims to:
•    Enhance Access to Safe Drinking Water: Ensuring that residents in the targeted districts have reliable access to clean and safe drinking water.
•    Raise Community Awareness: Educating the community on the importance of using clean water, proper methods of water transportation and storage, water purification and sterilization, and avoiding harmful practices.
•    Reduce Water-Related Diseases: Significantly contributing to the reduction of water-borne epidemics and diseases through effective intervention and education.
These efforts by YFCA are crucial in mitigating the spread of cholera and other water-related diseases, providing a lifeline to the affected communities and promoting a healthier, safer environment for all.
