YFCA Conducts Refresher Training for Health Workers in Al Mahwit Gov.
Monday, 23 December, 2024

YFCA completed a five-day refresher training on Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) for 46 health workers. This initiative, held under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health and Population and the Al Mahwit Health Office, was conducted in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP).
The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of health workers in two critical areas: the Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) approach and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling. These areas are vital for addressing malnutrition and improving child health outcomes in Yemen.
The CMAM approach focuses on the early detection and treatment of acute malnutrition within the community, allowing for timely and effective interventions. Meanwhile, IYCF counseling equips health workers with the skills to support and educate mothers and caregivers on optimal feeding practices for infants and young children, which is crucial for their growth and development.
This training is part of the broader "Promotion of Preventive and Lifesaving Nutrition Intervention" project, which aims to strengthen the capacity of health workers and improve nutrition services across Yemen. By enhancing the skills of these frontline workers, YFCA and its partners are working to ensure that vulnerable populations receive the care and support they need to combat malnutrition and improve overall health outcomes.
The successful completion of this training underscores YFCA's commitment to building a resilient and capable health workforce, capable of addressing the pressing health challenges faced by communities in Yemen.
