Monday, 30 December, 2024

In a significant step towards bolstering disaster resilience, YFCA, funded by Muslim Aid, conducted comprehensive training on disaster risk reduction. This activity is part of Enhancing the Living Conditions and Disaster Resilience of Displaced Households. It targeted camp leaders from 17 internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Marib Governorate, aiming to enhance their skills in disaster preparedness and response.
The training focused on practical methods to raise awareness among IDPs about effective disaster response strategies and foster community-wide resilience. Participants were empowered to act as vital channels for early warning and information dissemination, enabling their communities to better mitigate the impacts of floods, fires, and other potential hazards.
The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management played an active role in the program, ensuring community ownership and sustainability. Eleven members of the Executive Unit participated in the training, further building their capacity to support camp leaders and ensuring a well-coordinated disaster response framework. Their involvement underscores the importance of integrating local stakeholders in efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience across vulnerable populations.
This initiative marks a significant step towards creating safer and more resilient communities within Marib's IDP camps. It showcases the power of collaboration between humanitarian organizations, donors, and local authorities in addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
