YFCA conducted a series of training sessions within farmer field schools in Al-Dhale'e Governorate as part of Building Resilience through integrated community-based and humanitarian systems transformation and leadership in Yemen (BRIGHTLY) funded by FCDO. The sessions, which saw the participation of 29 farmers, including 5 women, focused on enhancing livestock breeding techniques.
The training covered a range of topics aimed at improving livestock care and productivity. Farmers were educated on the establishment of model shelters, fattening methods using concentrated feed, health care practices for animals, effective disease diagnosis, and the appropriate use of veterinary treatments. These practical sessions are designed to raise awareness of modern production techniques, improve the quality of livestock care, and contribute to increased production and income.
A key aspect of the training is the promotion of women's involvement in the livestock sector, empowering them to play a significant role in livestock breeding and care. By equipping farmers with the skills to effectively diagnose diseases and use appropriate treatments, the YFCA aims to ensure the health and sustainable production of livestock.
The sessions are part of a series of practical weekly activities held in sheep shelters over four weeks, building on previous theoretical training on modern animal husbandry techniques. This approach facilitates the transfer of knowledge and its practical application, supporting smallholders and improving livestock productivity.
The training was attended by the Director of the Agriculture Office in the governorate, the Director of the Agriculture Office in Al-Dhale'e district, and the YFCA coordinator in the governorate. Their presence underscores the significance of the program in supporting the agricultural sector and enhancing the sustainability of livestock breeding.
