YFCA Launches Cash for Protection Initiative to Support Vulnerable Communities in Marib City
Thursday, 03 July, 2025

YFCA launched the "Cash for Protection" activity to support the most vulnerable populations in Marib City amid an ongoing humanitarian crisis. With conflict and economic instability affecting many, the initiative aims to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs), women, children, and persons with disabilities.
Recently, YFCA distributed cash assistance to 52 households, providing each with 602,950 Yemeni rials. This financial aid helps families access essential services like medical care, psychological support, and legal documentation. Local authorities and Community Committees facilitated the distribution through Focal Service Provider (FSP) points, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
The initiative enhances the ability of vulnerable individuals to meet their protection-related needs by improving access to services and reducing risks associated with gender-based violence and exploitation. Cash support empowers beneficiaries to make choices that fit their circumstances, promoting dignity and independence.
The impact has been significant, as over 60% of recipients used the cash for medical services, while others addressed transportation and legal costs.
YFCA's Cash for Protection initiative serves as a vital lifeline for communities in Marib City, fostering dignity and independence while addressing immediate needs. As Yemen faces ongoing challenges, such efforts provide hope for a better future.
