In a significant step towards alleviating food insecurity in Yemen, YFCA, supported by Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF), successfully provided the first round of unconditional cash assistance to 502 targeted households in the Marib City district. This initiative is part of the ongoing project aimed at delivering essential life-saving and life-sustaining multisectoral support to the most vulnerable communities in Marib City and Khab Wa Ash Sha'f districts.
Food insecurity in Yemen has escalated due to numerous factors, including limited food production, supply chain disruptions, diminishing purchasing power, and soaring food prices. These challenges have particularly affected vulnerable populations, especially those residing in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps.
In collaboration with the Executive Unit and local Community Committees (CCs), YFCA distributed cash assistance through designated Focal Service Provider (FSP) points. Each beneficiary household received 171,000 Yemeni rials, aimed at enhancing their ability to meet basic food needs.
This cash assistance is a critical component of the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) activity, funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF). The UCT initiative not only aims to help households address immediate food security challenges but also fosters resilience by integrating food assistance with livelihood activities.
By promoting early action and responsive measures, the UCT activity aspires to improve food consumption scores among targeted households, ultimately bridging the gap in their food security situation.
YFCA remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities in Marib, ensuring that essential resources are accessible to those most in need.
