In a vital initiative to bolster food security and enhance self-reliance among the most vulnerable households, the Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) successfully executed the sixth round of its Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) activity. Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) as part of the BRIGHTLY project, this round took place in Al-Dhale’e from December 24 to 25, 2025.
The UCT program provides direct cash support to meet the essential needs of families while simultaneously implementing interventions that improve livelihoods and stimulate local economic activity. This targeted support is especially critical for households facing severe food insecurity. During this round, 280 family heads, evenly divided between men and women, received financial assistance, adhering to strict planning and implementation standards to ensure transparency and accountability.
YFCA's approach is rooted in integrated community resilience, addressing immediate humanitarian needs and facilitating income-generating activities. The involvement of local communities in planning and decision-making processes is emphasized, fostering sustainability and enhancing the effectiveness of the humanitarian response.
This round of cash transfers specifically prioritized vulnerable groups, including women, girls, persons with disabilities, internally displaced individuals, and households headed by women and children. Such inclusive measures ensure fair and equitable distribution of aid, aligning with principles of non-exclusion and accountability.
The execution of this UCT round reflects YFCA's commitment, alongside its humanitarian partners, to support affected communities in Yemen, strengthening their capacity to cope with ongoing crises through sustainable interventions. Amidst the challenging circumstances faced by the country, YFCA remains devoted to empowering families and nurturing their independence.
