YFCA Advances Locally Led Advocacy Through the BRIGHTLY Project
Tuesday, 17 February, 2026

YFCA launched a focused advocacy initiative under the BRIGHTLY Project, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). This initiative aims to strengthen locally led development by enhancing the capacity of community actors to engage effectively with donors and international stakeholders.
As part of the initiative, a series of three-day workshops were conducted with the participation of community leaders, local representatives, and members of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). The workshops focused on strengthening community-led advocacy, identifying local priorities, and developing strategies to amplify community voices in policy and development discussions.
In Al-Dhale’e Governorate, 15 participants from Al-Dhale’e and Al-Shaib Districts joined sessions that centered on community mobilization and local governance. In Shabwah Governorate, 16 participants from Mayfa’a and Bayhan Districts engaged in discussions aimed at designing advocacy approaches specific to their local challenges and opportunities.
These workshops provided an inclusive platform for participants to collectively identify pressing community issues, analyze their root causes, and formulate coherent advocacy messages. The sessions emphasized collaboration, inclusivity, and practical application, enabling participants to transform local concerns into structured advocacy initiatives.
This initiative reflects YFCA’s commitment to empowering local communities and advancing sustainability through locally led solutions. By building the advocacy capacity of local actors and strengthening coordination with national and international partners, YFCA continues to promote community ownership, accountability, and long-term resilience across Yemen.
Through the BRIGHTLY Project, YFCA reaffirms its dedication to ensuring that local perspectives are placed at the center of humanitarian and development responses, fostering more impactful and sustainable outcomes for communities across the country.
